“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.”
Our goal is to offer a safe place for kids to learn, explore the outdoors and to be kids, with other kids. It’s a harsh & confusing world today, especially for kids, “where everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” Kids spend more time indoors and in front of screens than ever before – causing a myriad of problems socially, physically, developmentally, and educationally. We use the woods, outdoor education and Adventure as the mediums to create a safe community of kids. We want to help kids “stay the course”, battle alongside them to overcome the challenges of life while educating them in the ways of the woods empirically, beyond the noise and distraction of media and its countless methods of delivery, into the wilds of the woods of Maine, offering peace & quiet, space, community and pursuit of magnificent adventure.
We’re excited and determined to compete with the Avid Indoorsmanship of our time, as it is robbing generations of useful knowledge & skills that bring fulfillment, preparedness, peace of mind, healthy bodies – only to be replaced with video gaming skills, the filling up of minds with endless electronic noise and the unfulfilling social media based “relationships” that are unleashing ruin on our culture and real, healthy human interaction.
We believe there is no better place than the outdoors, in the forests and fens, to see and soak in the wonders of life, to receive therapeutic peace. We are deeply in love with the Creator and His wild works. We love the little things, their names and to breathe deep the mountain air with all the critters. When we step into the meadows and climb the mountains of Maine seeking a new perspective we are ushered into a different world. A world that requires a different skillset, fewer “things” and keen eyes. A world that causes you to slow down lest you miss its vast and glorious offerings.
It is our privilege to guide people in this world of adventure and endless marvel. It is our privilege to help people to acquire the necessary skills to adventure safely in New England with confidence and get the most enjoyment they can from their Walk In The Woods, to change people from stranger to a welcomed frequenter of the forests. While we don’t claim to know it all, we do have an unquenchable thirst to learn everything we can concerning the wilder lands, share it with others and to do our part to conserve it.
We have a heart for kids and are very geared toward them, as we have 4 boys of our own. Learn more about Kasey & Jessie and our team. We’ve seen that kids often take the brunt of the trauma that this world can dish out, which often leaves them unprepared, misunderstood, neglected or leaderless. We want to help kids build confidence in themselves through hands-on courses and wild Adventures that will also prepare them for or deal with life better, emergency scenarios, team leadership and future Adventures.
Some of our favorite Adventurers are Ernest Shackleton, Lewis & Clark, Sam & Frodo, George Washington, Jim Elliot, Attean & Matt, Han Solo, Donn Fendler, Link, Robin Hood, Peter Pan, George W. Sears, Tom & Huck, Sherlock Holmes, Indiana Jones and Percival Baxter. We’d like to include you on this list!
“The world suffers a lot. Not because of the violence of bad people. But because of the silence of the good people.”
